DoCoMo offers free tablets with broadband connection

Tata DoCoMo is offering free tablet personal computers with its high-speed wired broadband service in the country, in a bid to increase broadband penetration in India and bring more users on its network.
Tata DoCoMo, the telecom brand of Tata Teleservices, will offer a tablet worth Rs40,000 free to every user subscribing to 100 MBPS annual plan.
At the lower end, Tata DoCoMo would offer a tablet worth Rs5,000 for users opting for an annual plan of Rs1,099 or above per month.
It said in statement the offer would be open till 30 September 2013.
For Tata DoCoMo, which introduced high speed broadband plans with speeds up to 100 MBPS, wired broadband is now a significant focus area. The target segment here is the rapidly growing high speed home broadband user, it added.
''Internet Services is fast becoming the basic necessity of the consumers and we also believe that high speed internet is an empowering tool in the hands of consumers. In a multi-device environment, our proposition of high speed broadband along with an attractive tablet is an exciting proposition for the consumer,'' Prateek Pashine, President, SME Business, Tata Docomo, said.
The offer gives consumers an opportunity to get one of the most aspired tablets in the market today for free, it said. With the device, coupled with cost-effective and high-speed wired broadband connection, consumers can instantly access a plethora of services such as video-on-demand, online games and applications among others.
