Facebook will remove the messaging capability from its mobile web application, according to a notice being served to users.

Facebook' said in a message to its users, ''Your conversations are moving to Messenger.''

According to commentators, millions who switched to the web app in order to avoid Messenger in the first place would be pleased with the development.

The ''Notify'' app was created to send notifications from a list of news sources including Bloomberg Business, CNN and The New York Times.

''We will begin integrating Notify functionality into other Facebook products, like Messenger, and will be removing Notify from the App Store,'' technology blog Engadget reported yesterday quoting Facebook.

''Since launching Notify, we've learned a lot about how to make notifications as timely and relevant as possible and we heard from people using the app that Notify helped them stay informed about things they cared about throughout the day,'' it added.

''With more than 900 million people using Messenger each month, we think there is a great opportunity for publishers to reach even more people interested in real-time updates from their favorite sources,'' the blog added further.

The company sent out notifications saying, "We're transitioning parts of Notify into other Facebook products, and the app will no longer be supported."

Notify essentially gathered news from around 70 publications and delivered it to users on their lock screen depending on their preferences.

Facebook told TechCrunch, "We will begin integrating Notify functionality into other Facebook products, like Messenger, and will be removing Notify from the App Store."
