New Delhi: Menlo Worldwide, a $2.9 billion business division of CNF Inc. (NYSE: CNF), based in Redwood City, California has been permitted by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) to offer vendor managed inventory services in India.

"The FIPB's approval opens the door for Menlo Worldwide to expand our logistics and supply chain service offerings in India," said Stuart Richardson, managing director UK, Ireland, Middle East, Africa and West Asia for Menlo Worldwide. "This demonstrates our flexible approach to providing solutions to our customers supply chain challenges."

Menlo Worldwide offers a wide range of international multi-modal transportation services — including air and ocean freight — as well as supply chain, warehouse and logistics services through Menlo Worldwide Forwarding India, a licensed multi-modal transport operator and custom house clearing agent. Menlo Worldwide has affiliations with international associations such as IATA and FIATA.

The company's India operations, which experienced double-digit growth over the past five years, is part of the company's UMA (UK, Middle East, Africa and West Asia) region headquartered in London, UK.

Together, Menlo Worldwide Forwarding and Menlo Worldwide Logistics provide integrated logistics solutions and supply chain services that include international airfreight, ocean freight, air charter, warehousing, and most recently, customs brokerage and intra India overnight air express services.

Earlier Menlo operated in India under the name of Emery Worldwide India. In December 2001, Menlo Worldwide's parent company, CNF Inc., formed Menlo Worldwide. At that time, Emery Worldwide Forwarding joined CNF sister companies Menlo Worldwide Logistics, Vector SCM and Menlo Worldwide Technologies under the new Menlo Worldwide brand umbrella. The Emery brand name, which was primarily associated with air-freight services, has now been replaced by the encompassing Menlo Worldwide brand.
