Five months to More Birla hyper marts

Mumbai: The Aditya Birla Group''s retail hyper marts are five months away.

According to reports, the Group, which plans to spend Rs8,000 - Rs9,000 crore in the expansion of its retail operations in India over the next three years, is likely to launch a hyper market in the next five months.

The company has in place 28 More stores across Pune, Mumbai and Ahmedabad,

According to industry sources, the new hypermarket format will have a different name, with the management currently working on its branding.

The company says that in Mumbai, it has targeted localities like those in Navi Mumbai, Thane, Borivali and Bhayandar. As part of its strategy, the group has plans to develop the Trinethra chain along the lines of More, to offer a more consistent retailing experience.

Aditya Birla Retail has launched its More outlets in Pune, before adding Mumbai and Ahmedabad to the list. It had acquired Trinethra, a Hyderabad-based supermarket retail chain, earlier in the year. Presently, the group operates one hypermarket in Mysore that was earlier part of the Trinethra chain.
