Ford India rolled out its 100,000th Fiesta model from its Chennai facility yesterday marking a new milestone in its India operations.

The 100,000th Ford Fiesta was driven off the assembly line by Ford India president and managing director Michael Boneham in the presence of Nigel Wark, executive director - marketing, sales and service and Sandip Sanyal, executive director of operations as hundreds of employees cheered enthusiastically to celebrate the success of the Fiesta 'Go Fida' story.

''After a terrific sales record in March and April, the rolling out of the 100,000th Ford Fiesta is a truly special moment for Ford India. The event marks a new milestone for us'', said Boneham.

The Ford Fiesta has been Ford's premium offering to thousands of delighted customers for half a decade. It has been the most popular sedan in its class thanks to its high quality delivery on various attributes, including drivability, styling, fuel efficiency and value for money.

The Fiesta has won numerous accolades and awards since its roll-out in the Indian market. Powered by TDCi common-rail technology power trains, the Fiesta has been widely recongised for its fuel efficiency and superior quality of ride and handling. In 2008, the special edition Fiesta was adjudged the `Best Drivers' Car' amongst top 10 cars by Formula-1 driver Narain Karthikeyan.

It also took the top spot in 'Total Customer Satisfaction in the Diesel Midsize Segment' in the TNS Automotive 2009-TCS Study.

Fiesta's solid built-in quality has contributed substantially to Ford Fiesta's remarkable market performance since its launch, boosting the company's sales and strengthening the Blue Oval promise for its customers. Also, the Fiesta was the first car to be exported from Ford India's manufacturing facility as a CBU to South Africa, which established the company's capability to produce world-class vehicles for customers abroad.

The Fiesta 100,000th car roll out comes on the back of a strong sales performance by the company in the past couple of months and the launch of its small car Figo. Boneham said since the Figo was based on the Fiesta platform, the company was able to maximise benefits in terms of economies of scale because of the many commonalities between them, which has helped the company keep the Figo cost-competitive.
