Ford India to recall 20,752 Eco Sport SUV over airbag and fuel line corrosion issues
17 Dec 2014
Ford India will recall 20,752 units of Eco Sport SUV to fix an airbag deployment fault as well as a fuel line corrosion problem.
The latest recall comes soon after the US auto major recalled over around 1,000 diesel EcoSport cars to relocate the module of the glow plug in the engine architecture.
Ford India said that it will inspect Eco Sport SUV's made at its Chennai plant between January 2013 and September 2014, for concerns of fuel and vapour line corrosion and will also check the vehicles for reorienting wiring harness related to the correct deployment of side airbags.
''We have initiated a Field Service Action to correct product concerns on 20,752 Ford EcoSport vehicles in India,'' the carmaker said in a statement.
The company will inform customers to contact local dealers to get the problems rectified free of cost.
The recall also comes nearly a month after Ford recalled 3,072 units of its mid-sized sedan Fiesta to replace a faulty part used in starting of diesel engines.
More than seven lakh vehicles have been recalled in India after auto industry body SIAM started voluntary vehicle recalls in July 2012 over safety related issues.
The auto makers in India who had announced recalls include Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra, Ford, Honda, General Motors and Nissan.
