HCL Comnet launches OMC in Chennai

IT infrastructure Management Company, HCL Comnet, a 100% subsidiary of HCL Technologies, yesterday launched its State-of-the-art Operations and Management Center (OMC) in Chennai.

Managing 10,000 devices and over 3 million measurements a day, the load-sharing center will exclusively service global customers and will also act as a Disaster Recovery Centre for the OMC located at Noida. The only metro in the country that lies in the seismic zone 2 (one of the most earthquake resistant zones in India), Chennai also offers best engineering talent pool to host a technology center of this scale.

The Chennai center will manage availability and performance of complete IT infrastructure - security, databases, systems and network devices - for 6 Global clients. The OMC comprises of a Visibility Center, and specialized centers for Security Operations, Network Operations and Systems & Database operations. Besides guaranteeing a zero downtime for Availability, Security and Recovery of customers'' IT infrastructures; the OMC will offer 24x7 monitoring, alerting and troubleshooting, proactive infrastructure maintenance and management services.

Commenting on this initiative, Vineet Nayar, CEO, HCL Comnet said, "Safeguarding Intellectual Property has become the primary concern for companies outsourcing IT infrastructure management. Increasingly, global companies are moving towards a new concept of ''People DR'' where they desire a back up for human capital as well! By converting our Disaster recovery centre into a full-fledged OMC, we are following a ''division of work'' business model that will ensure redundancy of operations while providing us a load-sharing center to scale up our capabilities."
