15 Feb 2008
Mumbai: HCL Technologies Ltd has been named one of Britain's top employers in 2008 by CRF UK, an independent business research organisation.
HCL Tech is among 100 companies selected for excellence in human resource (HR) management. The list of chosen companies will be publishing by Guardian Books and in the newspapers online versions, HCL Tech informed the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) in a filing.
Companies were chosen based on dedication and innovation, the ability to create a culture and working environment in which the employee is appreciated and productive.
"What impressed us most was the self awareness HCL demonstrated in promoting development and motivation into the workforce and the initiatives used to do just that. These include employee recognition programmes, excellence awards, high potential stock option plans, social and sports clubs, 'fun at work council' and its online tools. Employee benefits were noted as thorough and the graduate programme and long term service awards display a healthy balance to gaining interest of fresh talent and retaining experienced staff over long periods," said Dominic Knight, regional director for UK, Ireland and & Northern Europe, CRF.
"We are very proud to have been selected as one of Britain's top employers 2008, for the third year in a row. It highlights HCL Technologies' belief that creating a working culture where employees are happy and motivated will lead to a successful business," Rajeev Sawhney, president, HCL Europe, commented.
The independent research process included desk research, analysis, the completion of a questionnaire and interviews with senior management and employees.
The final section was then based on pay and benefits, career development, corporate culture, diversity / equal opportunities and leadership, and for HR strategy evaluation; recruitment strategies, knowledge management and employee relations.
