23 Jan 2012
Idea Cellular, India's fourth largest mobile operator by subscriber base, posted an 17.70 per cent dip in consolidated net profit at Rs200.9 crore for the quarter ended 31 December 2011.
The Aditya Birla group company, which posted an 8.8 per cent sequential growth, had registered a net profit of Rs243 crore in the October-December quarter last year, Idea Cellular said in statement.
"While 8.8 per cent sequential quarterly revenue growth brings back cheers to the company, the business outlook remains a paradox, a combination of tailwinds with strong customer traction and headwinds emerging from uncertain regulatory interventions and macro-economic environment," it said in a statement.
The firm's total income rose to Rs5,030.8 crore during the quarter under review, a 27 per cent rise from Rs3,955.6 crore for the quarter ended 31 December 2010.
On a standalone basis, the firm posted a net profit of Rs162.89 crore for the quarter ended 31 December 2011, a 26-per cent decline from Rs221 crore posted in the year-ago period.
Its income rose to Rs4,966.45 crore during the quarter from Rs3,929.05 crore in the same quarter last fiscal.
