Indo Gulf Corporation in figures

The year ended 31 March 1999 was a good one for the A V Birla group's Indo Gulf Corporation. Revenues rose to Rs.1,559 crore, up 144 per cent from the previous year. Operating profit increased 66 per cent to Rs.278 crore, and net profit by 16 per cent to Rs.164 crore.
In 1998-99, the company's copper plant was operational for a part of the year. The plant was commissioned in just 28 months. Indo Gulf claims that it already has a 32 per cent share of the copper market in India.
Indo Gulf's urea production crossed the 1 million tonne mark in 1998-99. Fertiliser sales volumes rose to 1.2 million tonnes.
The book value of the company is currently Rs.62 per share, compared to Rs.57 in 1997-98.
