Infosys commences work on Rs1,250 crore second campus in Hyderabad

Mumbai: Infosys Technologies has commenced work on its second campus at Pocharam in Hyderabad. The new campus, spread over 447 acres, will involve a total investment of Rs1,250 crore. This campus, to be built in three phases, will seat over 25,000 people and will be completed over a period of 10 years.
Work is commencing for the first phase with a seating capacity of 10,000 people and an initial investment of Rs600 crore, spread over three years.
''We are delighted to commence work on the new campus. The state government has worked at enhancing infrastructure facilities at Hyderabad to make it a premier IT destination globally. We are very encouraged by this development and the support provided to Infosys,'' N R Narayana Murthy, chairman of the board and chief mentor, said.
Infosys is designing the campus on best-in-class sustainability principles to achieve energy efficiency, water sustainability, preservation and promotion of biodiversity and effective waste management, as part of its drive to become carbon neutral.
Infosys' existing campus at Gachibowli, which has been operational since 2001, has a seating capacity of over 10,000. The campus, built at a cost of Rs522 crore, has so far contributed Rs2,279 crore in export earnings and accounted for 8.7 per cent of the state's total exports in the financial year 2007-2008, according to a press release.
The Gachibowli campus has world-class technology infrastructure, including video conferencing facilities, network connectivity and over 10,000 workstations. The campus also houses the Enterprise Solution (ES) Academy which focuses on competency enablement for entry-level and experienced consultants in the ES practice.
Employee facilities include a fully equipped state-of-the-art gymnasium, an aerobics center, a swimming pool, sauna and steam, billiards and snooker tables, table tennis boards, a tennis court, a badminton court, a squash court, a basket ball court, volley ball courts, a grocery store, a full-fledged dining facility for about 3,000 people and a health clinic.
