Infosys inducts three new wholetime directors

At meeting of the board of directors of Infosys Technologies held today, three new directors, all of whom are long serving senior executives of the company, were inducted as additional directors of the company. The three executives -- Mr. Phaneesh Murthy, senior vice president – sales and marketing, Mr. T. V. Mohandas Pai, chief financial officer and senior vice president – finance and Mr. Srinath Batni, senior vice president – delivery for west and north America – were nominated to the board positions by the nominations committee.
Mr. Phaneesh Murthy, an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, joined Infosys in 1992. As a member of the board, he will continue to be responsible for sales and marketing activities and will continue to head the Communications and Product Services group.
Mr. T. V. Mohandas Pai, a Chartered Accountant and a law graduate, joined Infosys in 1994. As a member of the board, he will continue to be the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for finance, administration and infrastructure activities of the company.
Mr. Srinath Batni, a Mechanical Engineer from Mysore University and holds a Masters in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, joined Infosys in 1992. As a member of the board, he will continue his current responsibilities in delivery.
Commenting on their appointment to the board, Mr. N. R. Narayana Murthy, chairman and chief executive officer, and Mr. Nandan M. Nilekani, president, managing director and chief operating officer said that these appointments clearly demonstrated the company’s policy and commitment to creating a professional oriented culture within the organisation, that duly rewards hard work and performance.
Simultaneously, Mr. Susim Datta, former chairman of the multinational FMCG giant, Hindustan Lever Limited and non-executive director, retired from the board, on reaching the superannuation age of 65. He has volunteered to not seek re-election to the board.
