Software major Infosys plans to set up three more campuses in Bengaluru that will create an additional 27,000 jobs, at an investment of Rs1,918 crore ($290 million), a state government official said.

The state government's high level clearance committee on industry presided by chief minister Siddaramaiah is reported to have cleared the three IT projects at a meeting on Saturday.

One of the three campuses will be in the electronics city while the other two are planned at Konappana Agrahara in the southern suburbs.

Infosys already has its largest software development centre in the electronics city, about 30 km away from Benbgaluru.

The $8.7-billion IT outsourcing major said the new investments would generate 27,000 new jobs collectively.

Infosys will invest Rs625 crore in a 10-acre campus at Konappana, which will have the capacity to house 8,500 techies while a software technology park to be set up in the same location at Rs1,079 crore will create another 15,000 jobs.

The new campus in the electronics city, to be built at a cost of Rs216 crore, will create another 3,500 jobs.

The state government also cleared other projects during the meeting including proposals from Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited and Biosciences Pvt Ltd.
