Mumbai: Jet Airways has entered into a code sharing arrangement with Qantas under which the Australian airline will expand operations in India from September 6, subject to government approval.

Quantas executive general manager John Borghetti said the code share on the company meant more Quantas flights between Sydney and Mumbai in addition to its existing thrice-weekly Airbus A330-300 services. Perth will also get a daily connection to Mumbai under the code share, he said.

Jet Airways chief executive officer Wolfgang Prock-Schauer said the airline was pleased to partner with Qantas and launch the code share service on the Delhi-Singapore and Mumbai-Singapore routes.

"Australia is a popular destination in the Indian market and the code share service will offer a seamless experience on the India-Australia route," Prock-Schauer said.

Jet Airways said the Delhi-Singapore daily service will be operated with the new generation B737-800 aircraft effective September 6. Flight 9W 018 will depart from Delhi at 0835 hrs and reach Singapore''s Changi airport at 1650 hrs (local time) the same day. The return flight 9W 017 will depart from Singapore''s Changi Airport at 2300 hrs (local time) and arrive in Delhi at 0215 hrs, the next day.

This will be the third direct non-stop flight operated by the airline from India to Singapore. Jet Air already operates daily direct flights from Chennai and Mumbai to Singapore.
