Mangalore: Karnataka Bank has plans to broadbase its agro-credit portfolio. The bank, which has lent 23 per cent of its gross advances to the agricultural sector in Karnataka, surpassing the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) target of 18 per cent, now plans to enter other states in a bid to widen its base.

Karnataka Bank chairman Anantha Krishna says the non-performing assets under the agricultural sector have declined, mainly due to the extension of relief measures by the bank to the farmers without diluting the lending discipline as per the RBI guidelines.
