L&T bags orders worth Rs1,200 crore

Larsen and Toubro Ltd (L&T) has secured six orders worth Rs12.30 billion in domestic electrical projects.
Of the six contracts, four are for transmission line and railway construction worth Rs10.31 billion, and two are for sub-stations and worth Rs1.99 billion. The projects are to be executed by the company's construction division company, Electrical and Gulf Projects Operating Company.
"The orders would be executed by Electrical & Gulf Projects Operating Company, a part of L&T's Construction Division," L&T said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The company has recently reported a growth of 24 per cent in orders in 2008-09. (See: L&T orders swell 24 per cent to Rs52,000 crore in 2008-09)
Two transmission line orders are from Mahatransco and from Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board. These will be completed in two years.
Two other orders are from the Rs103-crore contract from Power Grid Corporation of India for a transmission line with a time line of 25 months and a Rs186 crore contract from Rail Vikas Nigam for a railway line with a project duration of two years.
Another order worth Rs128-crore is from the Maharastra State Electricity Distribution Ltd for sub-stations.
