L&T bags Rs2000 crore power plant order

Engineerng major Larsen & Toubro today said that it had bagged an order worth Rs2,000 crore from GMR Energy for setting up a 2x384 MW gas-based power plant in Andhra Pradesh.
The gas-based power plant will come up at Vemagiri, near Rajamundry in Andhra Pradesh, the company said in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange.
L&T subsidiary L&T – Sargent and Lundy will carry out the plant integration and detailed engineering and the project is expected to be completed in the 11th plan.
L&T will undertake the construction, installation, commissioning and project management.
L&T will design and manufacture critical components of the plant like heat recovery steam generators, switchgear and cooling towers among other equipment.
The engineering major had set up a similar 388.5 MW power plant for the GMR group at the same location in 2006.
