L&T eyes $1 billion from electrical business; plans capacity addition
12 Apr 2007
Chennai: Larsen and Toubro Infotech has zeroed in on its Chennai facility as the chosen Centre of Excellence in IBM Mainframe-related services. At present, the company runs several such IBM mainframe offshore development centres, in addition to other development centres, for global corporations from Japan, the US and Europe.
L&T managing director and chief executive officer A M Naik declared open the Larsen and Toubro Infotech Park at the ECC premises in Chennai on 14 August 2002.
In the first phase, the park will have 1,000 seats and plans to increase it to 3,000 seats in stages. The park heralds an era of increased focus on offshore delivery centres for several international clients. These clients will be provided with access-controlled, manned work areas, forming a virtual extension of their in-house IT set up.
Several bandwidth access and redundancy features guaranteeing high uptime on a 24/7-basis connectivity, as well as security and business continuity ensure this, says Naik.
