Domestic utility vehicle major Mahindra & Mahindra has launched its ambitious premium MPV Marazzo at an impressive price of Rs9.99 lakh. Offered only in the new 1.5-litre diesel engine, Marazzo has four variants.
The much-awaited MPV from Mahindra & Mahindra comes with a new diesel engine and it is significantly cheaper than the arch-rival - Toyota Innova Crysta.
Mahindra’ Marazzo is fitted with a new 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that has been tuned to belt out a maximum of 120bhp and a peak torque of 300Nm. The mill comes mated to 6-speed manual gearbox while an automatic transmission and a petrol option will be added later.
Compared to Toyota’s Innova Crysta which comes at a price of Rs15.18 lakh (ex-Delhi) for diesel variants, Marazzo is significantly cheaper.
It is also cheaper compared to Maruti Suzuki Ertiga's top-end diesel trim, which is priced at Rs10.69 lakh (ex-Delhi).
Mahindra claims Marazzo's the exterior design has been taking inspiration from a shark. In line with the theme, Marazzo gets a toothy grille finished in chrome. It is flanked by twin-pod headlamps with projectors similar to XUV500. The sculpted front bumper has a wide air dam and it also houses triangular fog lamps. Overall, the front design looks more mature and contemporary.
The Marazzo gets a chrome window line and door handles, blacked-out B and C-pillars and ORVMs with integrated turn signals. The higher-spec variants get 17-inch 6-spoke alloy wheels with a diamond-cut finish. At the rear, boomerang-shaped tail lamps are connected with a chrome garnish. A dual-tone rear bumper with integrated reflectors completes the look.
Interior of the Marazzo is a significant step up from other Mahindra models. The piano black shaded dashboard is upmarket while the use of beige and faux-aluminium inserts adds flavour. A touchscreen infotainment screen at the centre of the dash is a 7.0-inch unit. The Marazzo will also boast of roof mounted AC vents which Mahindra claims is the industry's first surround cool technology.
On the safety front, the Marazzo is equipped with ABS with EBD and brake assist, two airbags and Isofix child seat mounts. The top-spec M8 flaunts a rear parking camera and parking sensors, while the M6 misses out on the camera.
