Maruti Suzuki India, the country's largest carmaker, on Friday announced an across-the-board hike in prices of all its cars – ranging from Rs3,000 to Rs9,000 – citing dealer margins.

The hike in the ex-showroom prices is effective from 11 August, a Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) spokesperson said.

The price revision is on account of changes in dealer margin and a minor calibration in prices, the spokesperson added.

Maruti Suzuki, however, exempted its newly launched premium crossover S-Cross from the price hike as the prices of S-Cross models, launched earlier this month, were recently fixed.

Maruti Suzuki, which currently sells a range a vehicles starting from entry-level car Alto 800 to premium crossover S-Cross, priced between Rs2.52 lakh to Rs13.74 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), has a share of over 45 per cent in the domestic passenger vehicle market,

The company did not specify the exact quantum of increase for each of its cars.

The latest price hike comes within a fortnight of rival Hyundai increasing prices by a much bigger margin of up to Rs30,000 citing rising raw material costs.

Maruti Suzuki had, in January this year, increased prices by up to Rs31,600 to adjust impact of hike in excise duty after it hiked prices by up to Rs10,000 in October 2013, citing rupee depreciation.
