Maruti Suzuki September sales up 9.8 %

Maruti Suzuki India, the country's largest carmaker, has posted a 9.8 per cent increase in total sales at 93,988 vehicles in September 2012, compared with 85,565 units sold during the same month a year ago.

The company in which Japan's Suzuki Motor Corp holds a controlling stake has posted a 12.7-per cent increase in domestic sales at 88,801 units during the month under review, as against 78,816 units sold in September 2011. It's passenger vehicle sales rose 3.4 per cent to 68,957 units, as against 66,667 vehicles a year ago, it said in a statement.

However, on the export front, Maruti Suzuki India, which also makes commercial vehicles, registered a 23.1 per cent fall at 5,187 units as against 6,749 vehicles in September 2011.

Earlier, Suzuki Motor Corp said the production at riot-hit Manesar plant is likely to reach 800 to 850 vehicles per day in the first half of September.
