Nestle to invest $293 million on new Nescafé Dolce Gusto plant in Germany

Swiss foods giant Nestle today said that it will invest €220 million ($293 million) in building a major coffee processing plant in Germany.
Nestle will build a new plant in Schwerin in east Germany, which will bring coffee capsules of its Dolce Gusto brand for the German, Scandinavian and East European markets.
The plant will create around 450 new jobs, and produce around 2 billion capsules annually by 2014.
Nestle introduced in 2006 a new coffee machine system called the Dolce Gusto, which allows consumers to make various styles of coffees including Cappuccino, Macchiato, Chococino, Cappuccino Ice, Espresso, Lungo and Classico Decaffeinato.
Unlike other Nescafé products, most Dolce Gusto beverages use roasted and ground coffee, instead of instant coffee.
''The Dolce Gusto range is one of Nestle's fastest-growing business sectors in Europe,'' said Laurent Freixe, Nestle European head in a statement.
