NIIT buys Spain’s software firm Proyecta

NIIT Technologies, the $271-million New Delhi-based software firm, today said that it has acquired Proyecta Sistemas de Informacion SA, a Madrid-based software services company that specialises in the travel and financial services segments, for an undisclosed sum.
Founded in 2002, Proyecta, with over 100 consultants, offers IT services in areas of tourism, airlines, financial services, banking, logistics, healthcare and construction.
Its clients include Spanish banking giant Grupo Santander, Iberia, Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Mundomar Cruises, Merrill Lynch and others.
NIIT said that the acquisition will enable it enhance its European footprint in the travel and financial services industry and provides a gateway to the traditional Spanish speaking countries in Latin America.
NIIT's EMEA presence contributes to 35 per cent of its global revenue. The company is ranked No.1 in customer satisfaction among all global outsourcers in the Datamonitor Black Book of Outsourcing 2010 Travel Industry survey and has held this position for three consecutive years.
