01 Oct 2013
Automobile manufacturer Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL) has announced a price increase of about 1.4-2.9 per cent on selected models, effective October 1.
The increase applies to most variants of Sunny, Micra and Micra Active.
''The prices are revised to minimise the impact of rupee depreciation and offest rising input costs and raw materials costs due to inflation. The price increase is marginal and we are confident that our valued customers will appreciate our efforts to offer them globally renowned products at affordable prices,'' Nitish Tipnis, Director (Sales & Marketing) Hover Automotive India, Nissan's sales distributor in India, said.
NMIPL is a wholly-subsidiary of Japan's Nissan Motor Co.
Effective 15 July German luxury car manufacturer Audi had hiked prices across all models in India by up to 4 per cent.
''The depreciating rupee and rise in input cost have made us re-evaluate our pricing strategy in India and increase the prices of the entire range. However, we are offering the customers customised and innovative finance options from Audi Finance which will make their purchase more attractive,'' said Audi India Head Michael Perschke.
The prices of sports utility vehicle Q5 would increase by Rs1.52 lakh and sedans A6 by 1.8 lakh and sports sedan R8 by Rs4.42 lakh, the company said in a statement. The luxury car maker also increased prices of other models.
In September, Hyundai Motor India said it will hike prices across all its models by Rs4,000-Rs20,000 from October 1. The increase was across models - starting from Eon to Santa Fe – even though there will be no change in the price of the recently launched Grand i10.
General Motor (GM) India also said it will increase prices by Rs 2,000-Rs10,000 from the same day.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced a hike in prices of its key models by up to Rs24,000, effective 21 September, while Tata Motors hiked prices in the range of 1-1.5 per cent across its passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
