Nokia Siemens Network transfers Berlin radio access R&D operations to Wipro Technologies

The deal would allow Nokia Siemens to focus on telecom network development and rely on Wipro''s global R&D experience. For Wipro, the move enhances its presence in Europe
As part of the agreement, 58 Nokia Siemens employees will be integrated into the operations of Wipro Technologies.
"As regards the personnel transferring to Wipro Technologies, they will join a strong partner, where their competencies will be a natural fit," said Lehtoranta, adding, "our customers will see a strengthening of our capabilities to ensure high quality products".
The transfer of R&D capabilities to its business partners is part of Nokia Siemens Networks'' overall strategy to acquire greater flexibility and improve cost management and enable leveraging of the expertise of the R&D partners.
"This partnership will further strengthen Wipro''s capabilities and R & D services in the third-generation 3G," said Ramesh Emani, president, telecom and product engineering solutions. "This will enhance Wipro''s offerings across the wireless network including access, core and service infrastructure. This agreement is a key milestone in Wipro''s significant relationship with Nokia Siemens Networks while enhancing our presence in Europe".
