One dead, 85 injured in violence at Maruti's Manesar plant

One person was killed and at least 40 were injured yesterday as workers clashed with management staff at Maruti Suzuki India's Manesar plant, which led to forced stoppage of work.
According to Gurgaon police commissioner, one person died of burn injuries in the incident.
According to the company's statement, violence broke out in the evening when a supervisor was beaten up by a worker on the shop floor. However, the employees union blamed the supervisor who uttered "objectionable remarks" by against an employee for triggering the violence.
"Work at the Manesar plant had to be stopped following the violence," the company said.
Meanwhile, Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the state government would take stern action against those found guilty in the matter.
He added, DGP Dalal had already rushed to Gurgaon to ensure that law and order was maintained at all costs.
