Persistent Systems to acquire Agilent's software business in France

Persistent Systems, a leader in outsourced software product development (OPD) services, will acquire for an undisclosed sum Agilent Technologies' software marketing and development business based in Grenoble, France.
US-based Agilent provides electronic measurement solutions to the communications, electronics, life sciences, and chemical analysis industries.
The acquisition of Agilent's software marketing and development business is part of Persistent Systems' strategic thrust in the life sciences and healthcare markets, the company said in a release.
The company did not give financial details of the deal. Persistent Systems, however, said it expected the acquisition to be completed by 1 August 2011, subject to customary closing conditions.
The Agilent business is focused on supplying data acquisition and control software for scientific instruments to the life sciences, environmental, energy, applied research and other markets. The acquisition will help bolster Persistent's growing life sciences domain expertise.
Persistent currently has a complement of over 40 life sciences domain experts and more than 500 software professionals working on services supporting laboratory instrumentation, bioinformatics and chemical informatics projects for leading companies in the life sciences and healthcare markets. Agilent has a highly experienced team in Grenoble.
