Prime minister, Manmohan Singh has directed reversion of Doordarshan director general Aruna Sharma to her parent, Madhya Pradesh cadre. He has also sought an explanation from her and the chief executive officer of Prasar Bharati BS Lalli on the allegations made against them.
Singh was referring to the Shunglu Committee Report on Host Broadcasting issues relating to the Commonwealth Games to the CBI yesterday.
The information and broadcasting ministry has also been asked to recommend an appropriate course of action within two weeks, by the prime minister.
Also ordering a review of the claims for payment of dues by the London-based SIS LIVE, the broadcaster for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, he has asked to ensure that there was no overpayment.
According to the Shunglu Committee, the two officials had favoured, SIS LIVE with an inflated contract and approved exorbitant bills that have caused the exchequer to suffer losses to the extent of Rs132 crore.
The prime minister said if 'over-payment' had been made, action needs to be taken to ensure recovery of excess payment.
