PNB clocks 21% net profit to Rs 562 crore

New Delhi: Punjab National Bank (PNB) has recorded a net profit of Rs 562.39 crore for 2001-02 a 21.3-per cent rise over the previous years profit of Rs 463.64 crore. The gross profit went up to Rs 1,473.80 crore, compared to Rs 945.21 crore a growth of 56 per cent. PNB chairman and managing director S S Kohli says the total business at the end of March 2002 was Rs 98,492 crore, thereby rising by 17 per cent from Rs 84,160 crore.

The total deposits stood at Rs 64,123 crore (Rs 56,131 crore), while advances increased to Rs 34,369 crore (Rs 28,029 crore).

The capital and reserves increased to Rs 3,216 crore, compared to Rs 2,669 crore. PNBs capital adequacy ratio stood at 10.70 per cent against 10.24 per cent.
