The Indian Railways will conduct the second set of equipment proving trials with modified anti-collision devices (ACD) on the electrified, multiple-line automatic signaling section on the Chennai-Arrakonam section, in Southern Railway, from 10 November 2010.

The Railways conducted the first set of trials in the same section in September-October 2010.

The trials are aimed at providing a fair opportunity for success of the indigenous technology, an official release said today.

The release said the equipment has been modified in respect of several software and hardware parameters on the basis of feedbacks from the first trials.

The modified devices will now be tried out in the second set for making headway in achieving the objective, it said.

Railway minister Mamata Banerjee has assigned the highest priority to safety and security of passengers.
