Railways to take up surveys for 19 new lines

The Railways will take up surveys for construction of 19 new lines during 2014-15 financial year.
The Railways is also on course to convert the strategically important 510-km long Rangiya - Murkongselek metre gauge line on the New Bongaigaon-Guwahati section in Assam into broad gauge within this financial year.
The capital of Arunanchal Pradesh would soon be on rail map in this financial year with the commissioning of the new Harmuti-Naharlagun line.
Meghalaya is also all set to come on the railway map in this financial year as the Dudhnoi – Mehendipathar line is getting completed by March 2014.
Surveys for doubling the five existing lines will also be taken up during the year.
