Rajiv Lall to head IDFC

Chennai: Finally, the board of directors of Infrastructure Development Finance Company Limited (IDFC) has chosen Rajiv B Lall as managing director and CEO of the company.
It may be recalled that the company was without a full-time CEO since March 2003. (See: Mutiny at IDFC)
A doctorate in economics, Lall is expected to join the company by January 10, 2005. According to IDFC, Lall has 22 years experience as investor and economist with various institutions like Warburg Pincus in New York, Singapore and Hong Kong; Morgan Stanley Asia Limited, Hong Kong; World Bank, Washington DC; Asian Development Bank, Manila, Philippines, and other reputed organisations.
He is experienced in the areas of private equity / venture capital, international capital markets, project finance and macroeconomics, trade and industrial policies in twenty countries across East Asia, South Asia, the Pacific and Africa.
Meanwhile IDFC during the period April- November 2004, has approved projects worth Rs4,913 crore and disbursed an amount of Rs1,967 crore.
