India's leading telecom provider, Reliance Telecom has announced the launch of Reliance 3G services starting with Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata and Chandigarh.

Reliance Communications said the company achieved the roll-out in a record time of around 100 days after receipt of 3G spectrum.

The company will be launching Reliance 3G services across all 13 telecom circles, for which it holds licences, by end of fiscal 2010-11. It is targeting a national footprint of Reliance 3G services in association with some other 3G licensees in the remaining 9 telecom circles in the next year.

The company's 3G network has been designed to offer blanket coverage in every town being connected on 3G, with all its 3G sites connected through IP backhaul that optimises download speeds coupled with minimum latency, the company said. The network is capable of delivering peak speeds of upto 28 Mbps, it added.

Reliance Communications, which paid the government Rs8,585.04 crore for the licence to offer 3G services in 13 key circles, expects to have pan-India presence by next year.
RCom expects revenues from 3G to start flowing in the next six to nine months and is anticipating mobile number portability to significantly boost its subscriber base.

RCom plans to establish a national footprint through associations with other telcos post March. The company has partnered with Nokia for devices, Universal Music for content and Motricity for web portal according to the company spokesman.
