Reliance Globalcom raises capacity by 400 % on its FEA, Falcon undersea cables
05 Oct 2011
Reliance Globalcom, Reliance Communications' (RCom) global telecommunications services arm, has upgraded capacity on its submarine cables - Flag Europe Asia (FEA) and FALCON Cable Systems - to over 500 GB.
The 400-per cent upgradation in the undersea FEA cable system capacity would help in addressing present and future bandwidth requirements of Europe, Middle East, Asia and Far East, the route of the cable, Reliance Globalcom said in a statement.
"With the upgradation of capacities to 500 GB plus on this route, and potential to increase it to multi terabit, we will be able to provide abundant high quality bandwidth to our voice, carrier and enterprise customers for many years to come," said Reliance Globalcom Chief Executive Officer Punit Garg.
There is about 60 per cent year-on-year growth in bandwidth requirement on the Europe, Middle East and Asia route, the statement said.
The upgradation would also help it strengthen its position in cloud computing, managed services and application services portfolio.
"With over 500 GB of capacity to connect Middle East with Europe and Asia using the highly advanced platforms, we are in a position to cater to all existing and future bandwidth requirements and technological implementations of our Carrier and ISP customers," Reliance Globalcom Chief Operating Officer Rory Cole said.
