Reliance Jio Infocomm, the telecom arm of Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries Ltd, will invest Rs7,000 crore in rolling out 4G networks in eastern and north-eastern states.

Of this, Rs3,000 crore is earmarked for West Bengal, the company told media in Kolkata on Wednesday.

Reliance Jio plans to simultaneously launch fourth-generation services in Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi and Jamnagar by the end of this calendar year.

Over the next six months, Reliance Jio will commission a 5,500-km optic fibre network across West Bengal, of which about 1,500 km will be leased from Anil Ambani's Reliance Communications, as part of a recent telecom infrastructure-sharing pact between the Ambani brothers.
