Reliance raising polyester capacity to global scale

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has embarked on its largest-ever capacity expansion programme, involving fresh investments across its polyester chain in India.
The capacity expansion, which will be carried out in phases over the next few years, will consolidate RIL's position as the world's largest integrated polyester producer.
These investments in new polyester capacity will also strengthen India's position as a global manufacturing hub for textiles and fibre, RIL said in a release.
RIL will set up capacity a 2.30 million tonne purified teripthalic acid (PTA) plant at Dahej, with provision for an additional 1.15 million tonnes capacity at a later stage.
The plants will be integrated with the paraxylene plants at Jamnagar for raw material and will in turn cater to the new polyester plants being constructed simultaneously.
RIL has also planned a 395,000 tonne capacity polyester filament yarn (PFY) project and a 140,000 tonne polyester texturised yarn (PTY) project at Silvassa.
