03 Mar 2010
Defence, security and information technology firm Rolta India Ltd today said it has won a prestigious engineering design project for a nuclear reactor system of international importance. The company, however, did not name the project.
The project is one of the first of its kind internationally and is a very complex and technically challenging engineering design project, Rolta India said in a filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
The project demands a high level of specialised expertise in conceptual design, system development, finite element analysis and safety analysis, in addition to multi-disciplinary engineering competence and domain expertise, it added.
"Rolta was selected primarily due to the extensive experience and expertise of its engineering and design teams in nuclear systems, reactor safety analysis and project management," the release said, adding, "This project provides Rolta an opportunity to work on sophisticated nuclear technology related projects using advanced technologies."
"We are happy to be part of this prestigious project and will continue to provide high-end engineering services in the field of nuclear energy. We are very pleased that our engineering strengths are being recognised for participation in such sophisticated projects," K K Singh, chairman and managing director of Rolta India Ltd, said.
Rolta said while it has been involved in several other projects in the Indian nuclear industry, this project is expected to be important in establishing Rolta's track record in the nuclear sector.
