S Mobility launches tablet PC ‘MiTab’ in India

Spice Group firm S Mobility has launched a tablet personal computer, joining the race for hand-held devices in the increasingly competitive Indian market.
MiTab is a smartphone, navigation and gaming device, and can be operated as a portable hotspot. The device has multimedia features and social networking applications, according to a company statement.
''Mobile Internet is a revolution, a new trend which comes from the customers' connectivity need to be always on. Tablets play an important part in this revolution. Tablets may very well be the 1st PC for most Indians. There has been a growing demand for 'tabs', which can do so much ranging from multimedia to social networking to even your official work," S Mobility chairman B K Modi said.
The tab, priced at Rs12,990, is available at over 50,000 retail points including the 750 Spice HotSpot retail network.
The overcrowded Indian market has been witnessing an array of tablet launches.
On August 8, Reliance Communications launched Reliance 3G Tab, priced at Rs12,999, the cheapest tablet at that point in time.
While Samsung Electronics launched the world's thinnest tablets - Galaxy Tab 750 and Galaxy Tab 730 - BlackBerry (PlayBook), Apple (iPad), Samsung (Galaxy), Dell (Streak), Motorola (XOOM) and homegrown telecom firms like Olive launched tablets in the country.
MiTab, which comes with 17.75 cm screen, supports full HTML browsing and Adobe flash player, features 3G high-speed packet access and has superfast webpage rendering (D/L 7.2 Mbps & U/L 5.76 mbps) abilities.
The tablet is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MHz Turbo Processor, and a Adreno 200 Graphics processor for enhanced the gaming experience.
The tablet also has GPS/AGPS capabilities (location tracking) and can configure multiple e-mail accounts. The Wi-Fi embedded MiTab has a 2 MP camera at rear and a VGA at front and expandable memory up to 32 GB.
