Hyderabad: Satyam Computer Services Limited (NYSE: SAY) has won a three — year contract from Nestlé, the world's largest food company, to provide SAP application support for the latter's GLOBE Business Excellence Program. The objective of the GLOBE Program is to further enhance the performance and operational efficiency of Nestlé's worldwide businesses. In the new wave of ERP, global enterprises are consolidating on their past ERP investments and standardising the way their business operates.
Subu D. Subramanian, director and senior vice president, Satyam Computer Services, said, "Cost reduction and sharing global best practices through standardisation and off shoring is now becoming mainstream in the packaged application space. Nestlé is an extremely valued customer for us. Our strong SAP capability, experience of setting up centres of excellence for SAP applications for several Fortune 100 companies, good understanding of business processes and experience in the CPG manufacturing practices helped us win this deal".
One of the strands of this programme is the implementation of a global mySAP system around the world. This implementation will be based on a global template structure as well as country specific localisations. Nestlé has decided to outsource configuration and custom development activities to several suppliers. Satyam will provide custom development in the application development area of the project using SAP and other development tools. The custom development work includes development within the mySAP environment, interface to other systems and development of Nestlé legacy applications.
Forrester Research an independent technology research company that provides pragmatic and forward-thinking advice about technology's impact on business, has acknowledged Satyam as a top choice for SAP support among offshore service providers in a December 2002 article titled 'Satyam is a Top Choice for SAP Support' prepared in response to a client inquiry.
