SP Rao gets additional charge of CMD at GAIL

Mumbai: SP Rao, director (projects) at GAIL India has taken over the additional charge of chairman and managing director following the retirement of Proshanto Banerjee. The five-year term of Banerjee ended on August 28, and the government refused to give him an extension of service.
Rao is the senior-most full-time director of GAIL, and has been in charge of operations and maintenance, and project execution of the company since October 1999.
He has been with GAIL since its inception, and has a experience of 36 years in the oil and gas industry.
