Sprint Corporation, a frontrunner in carrying internet traffic internationally and leader in broadband communications, has launched its Managed Public-Key Infrastructure service or PKI. Based on Entrust Technologies'' award-winning technology, PKI is a part of the Sprint E-solutions managed VPN and security services portfolio.
PKI enables its enterprise customers to outsource authentication infrastructure for internet VPN and security applications. Sprint E-Solutions will manage user authentication as well as VPN devices and firewalls, establishing a secure networking environment throughout the enterprise and partnership networks. Using Sprint-provided digital certificates, users are allowed authenticated access to their networks and applications.
According to Keith Paglusch, president, digital certificates are fast becoming the standard for binding identity to information. Sprint plans to seamlessly integrate Entrust''s best-of-breed software with Sprint E-Solutions' e-enabling VPN and security services.
Internet security service applications are becoming increasingly critical in today''s internet age, making security more important than ever. The Entrust solution will increase cost savings in a VPN environment and ensure end-to-end security - from desktop to servers - for Sprint's enterprise customers and their clients, who are conducting more and more business transactions online.
