Mumbai: Subex Systems, the leading domestic telecom software company, has announced that it has won a contract from RPG Cellular Services to deploy its fraud management system (FMS) RangerT.

RangerT will be deployed in RPG Cellular's mobile network in Chennai. RangerT FMS was chosen in particular for the kind of features it offered, as also for its performance, and Subex's knowledge of the Indian market and customer support.

RPG Cellular is part of the Rs 65,000-million RPG group, which has an established presence in all services, including cellular, paging, V-SAT and email, and has tie-ups with world leaders like NTT and Itochu Corp of Japan, Star Paging of Hong Kong and Sprint of USA.

RPG Cellular Services is promoted by the RPG group in association with Vodafone, one of the largest GSM cellular operators in the world. RPG Cellular started commercial operations in the Chennai metro circle in 1995. It launched the prepaid service Wings Prepaid in 1998.

RangerT FMS is part of Subex's revenue maximisation suite of products and services, RevMaxT. RangerT helps operators to curb fraud through the use of innovative subscriber profiling techniques and advanced analytical capabilities.

The RevMaxT suite maximises revenue and profits through assuring earned revenue, enhancement of revenue and cost optimisation. Global telecom studies have revealed that telecom operators lose as much as 10 per cent through revenue leakage and about 40 per cent in terms of churn leading to substantial loss of revenue and profits and additional cost of acquisition and retention of subscribers. Other products in the RevMaxT suite include the billing verification system, INchargeT and the Electronic Business Support System (EBSS), eProficioT.

Subex president and CEO Subash Menon, while commenting on the order, said: "Subex is delighted to be associated with the telecom service provider who was voted the best in customer service and we look forward to living upto their high expectations."

Subex's clientele in India includes networks owned by Hutch, Bharti Mobiles, Escotel, Idea Cellular and BPL Mobile. Some of Subex's international clients include AmericaTel, Global Crossing, Sprint, Time Warner Telecom and Teleglobe in North America; Cora, Econet Wireless and Sonatel in Africa; and Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CYTA) in Cyprus, among others.
