‘Summer Surprise’ ends, but Jio in no hurry to disconnect
18 Apr 2017
With Reliance Jio Infocomm's 'Summer Surprise', including the 'Dhan Dhana Dhan' extension offers, officially coming to an end on 15 April, Jio has started disconnecting customers who have not subscribed for a Jio Prime membership or any of its special schemes, though it seems to be a gradual process and not all at once.
If you're a Jio customer but don't have Prime membership you can still purchase it for Rs99 at a retail store, on the website, or from the MyJio app, alongside the available recharges to avail of the 'Dhan Dhana Dhan' offer. For Rs309, it offers customers three months of 1GB daily smartphone data, or 2GB daily 4G data under the Rs 509 recharge.
Reliance Jio had extended the last day to subscribe to Jio Prime from 31 March to 15 April. However, the company currently seems to still be offering the service and offer schemes, though it's unclear for how much longer, according to Indiatimes.com,
In addition, Reliance Jio is now also offering customers special international calling tariffs. Customers can activate a special Rs501 plan that allows calls to certain countries at Rs3 per minute. These include the US, Canada, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, French Guinea, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Mongolia, Morocco, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and the UK. Calls to France, Pakistan, Israel, Japan, Argentina, Denmark and South Korea will be Rs4.8 per minute under the same scheme.
