Tata Motors global sales up 35 per cent

Tata Motors' global vehicle sales rose 35 per cent year-on-year in November, with its luxury Jaguar Land Rover unit reporting a 27 per cent increase in sales, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

Tata Motors sold 108,028 vehicles in November, the statement said.

Sales of its Jaguar Land Rover models, which Tata bought for $2.3 billion in 2008, stood at 29,183 during the month.

Tata Motors also announced plans to increase truck production at its Pantnagar plant in North India by up to 90,000 vehicles per year from early 2012, said Ravi Pisharody, president of the automaker's commercial vehicles unit.

This will take Tata Motors' annual production to around 450,000 vehicles, Pisharody said.

The company's commercial vehicle sales rose 35 per cent in November, data provided by the Society of India Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) showed.
