Mumbai: Tata Motors has raised the prices of its passenger cars by up to three per cent with immediate effect.
The increase will be between one to two per cent for the flagship Indica, Indigo and Indigo Marina models while the popular brands in the SUV category like the Sumo and the Safari will cost between two and three per cent more, the company said in a statement.
"The price increase was necessitated due to the continuous increase in input costs," the company said.
Maruti Suzuki, the country's top car maker and Hyundai Motor, the second largest, had already announced price hikes during last month.
Maruti Suzuki had hiked prices across its various models between Rs1,000 and Rs18,000 while Hyundai Motor raised car prices by up to two per cent from the first week of June.
