Tata Motors announced the launch of its Tata Tigor sub-compact sedan in both petrol and diesel variants at a press conference in New Delhi. The prices of the petrol variants of the car range between Rs4.70 - Rs6.19 lakh (ex-Delhi) while that of the diesel variant ranges from Rs 5.60 - Rs7.09 lakh (ex-Delhi).
The car is being offered in four variants and six colour options.
Tata Tigor, the second launch of 2017 from the company is the third product to get the Tata Motors' IMPACT design philosophy after Tata Tiago and Tata Hexa. The Tata Tigor was also the company's third sub-4-metre compact sedan following Tata Zest and Tata Indigo.
The face of Tata Tigor closely resembles that of Tata Tiago, which shares the same headlamp cluster and the front grille. The differentiator between the two was the dual-coloured bumper and smoked headlamps which was not the same on the compact sedan.
The rear of the car is sharp, with the boot integrated with the car in a nice manner, which made the car look less boxy. It also sports black plastic cladding at the bottom rear of the car.
The car has a sharp rear with the boot integrated in a nice manner, which mutes the car's boxy look.
According to commentators, the Tigor was a bit more than just a Tiago with a boot at the back as it sported a coupe-like body shape which Tata Motors call 'Styleback'.
The Tigor is powered by the 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel engine and the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine which is also the engine of Tiago. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission setup.
The car has smoked projector headlamps in the front, split-LED tail lamps at the back which are accentuated by the large chrome strip that gives the Tigor a bold stance on road. There is also the high-mounted LED stop light, which ran across the length of the car.
