Tata Motors has started online bookings for Tata Bolt, Zig Wheels reported. The hatchback could be booked online at bookonline.tatamotors.com by making a payment of just Rs11,000. The Bolt comes as the second new product the carmaker was launching following the Zest that made its debut in August this year.

The Tata Bolt's front fascia sports a pretty grille with a chrome strip running above it and headlamps that merge neatly with the grille to the car a distinct look. The new car also has blackened out projector headlamps and silver accents highlighting the fog lamps. The rear end comes with blackened out bumper and LED tail lamps.

The dashboard of the Tata Bolt is along the lines of the Zest, but the new hatchback would come with an all black finish as opposed to the dual colours sported by the Tata Zest.

The new Tata Bolt would be available both in petrol and diesel engine options. The vehicle features a 1.2-litre turbocharged 'Revotron' petrol engine delivering 90PS of power and 140Nm of torque and a 1.3-litre Fiat Multijet oil burner producing 75PS of power and 190Nm of torque. The new hatch is being offered in three driving modes - Eco, City, and Sport.

The new Tata Bolt would take on the Maruti Swift, Fiat Punto EVO, and the Toyota Etios Liva. According to commentators the new hatch would carry a price tag starting at Rs4 lakh.

According to www.hindustantimes.com, the company was yet to reveal a launch date for the car, but the launch of online bookings suggested that the launch was not very far away.

HT quoted a company spokesman as saying, that the carmaker was not announcing a launch date for the Bolt yet. He added the company had said earlier that it would be launched in the current financial year, so it would be sometime in January-March quarter.
The Bolt would be delivered on first-come-first-serve basis so customers who pre-booked could avoid any rush after launch.

The Zest compact sedan, the first new launch by the company in over four years, had been selling around 3,500 units per month with wait-list stretching to almost six months.

The Bolt, which is based on Tata's Vista platform, had been given a new look and engine and would be available in both petrol and diesel variants.
