Tata Motors' Tiago hatchback to be launched on 6 April

The launch date for Tata Motors' much-awaited hatchback, Tiago is being launched on 6 April, a week after it was originally due.
Tata Motors has started accepting bookings for the Tata Tiago hatchback at Rs10,000.
In the company's passenger car line-up, the new Tiago hatchback is a junior sibling to Tata Bolt.
The prices of the Tata Tiago are expected to start around Rs 4 lakh (ex showroom, New Delhi) with the top variant for Rs6 lakh (ex showroom, New Delhi) and the car would come with both petrol and diesel mills.
The new Tata Tiago will feature a 1198cc, three-cylinder, MPFi with Multi Drive Revotron petrol engine delivering maximum power output of 84bhp and maximum torque of 114 Nm @3500 rpm, mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
The diesel variant is a 1047cc powered by three-cylinder, Crail Revotorq diesel engine producing 69bhp and maximum torque of 140Nm @1800-3000 rpm, mated to a five-speed manual transmission. It would also be the first engine in its class with multi-drive modes (CITY & ECO).
The new hatchback would sport advanced features like ABS, EBD, corner stability control and speed sensing door auto lock along with dual front airbags and energy absorbing body structure for superior safety.
The upcoming Tata Tiago hatchback would feature Follow-me halogen headlamps with fog lamps on the front and it would also have a boot space of 242 litres. The upcoming Tata Tiago hatchback would feature a wheelbase of 2400mm and would be 3746mm in length, 1647mm in width and 1537mm in height, with a ground clearance of 170mm.
The new hatchback would also have a fuel capacity of 35 litres with kerb weight of 1080 kg and feature 14" alloy wheels.
The Tata Tiago was earlier named Zica, and was expected to be launched around the Auto Expo 2016 which concluded in the first week of February.
However, the company had to drop the name 'Zica' when the deadly virus 'Zika' surfaced and made headlines around the world.
Tiago will compete with the likes of Hyundai i10 and Maruti Celerio.
