Tata Motors is gearing up for its highly anticipated SUV Tata Nexon, designed at Tata Motors' in-house facility in Pune.
The company has added two new engines to its powertrain portfolio – the 1.2L Turbocharged Petrol from the Revotron series and the 1.5L Diesel engine from the Revotorq family. The new generation engines are set to debut in the company's new offering, Nexon, which is expected to launch this festive season.
The Revotron petrol engine, which will be manufactured at the Sanand facility will churn out 108 bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque. The Revotorq diesel engine will roll out of the Ranjangaon facility. The 4 cylinder engine will deliver 108 bhp and 260 Nm of peak torque.
The car will come in three driving modes – Eco, City and Sport with both engines on the new Tata Nexon to be paired with 6-speed TA6300 synchromesh with overdrive manual transmission. When launched, the new Tata Nexon will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford Ecosport.
The Nexon SUV had been in the news for some time and people therefore have a fair idea of what the Nexon will look like.
''To introduce this all new SUV into the market, we are not leaving any stone unturned. We are once again introducing a product with an exciting package for our customers. The engine is the heart of the car and along with the SUV like design and features, we wanted to offer punchy, responsive and refined engines,'' The Financial Express quoted Mayank Pareek, president, passenger vehicle business unit, Tata Motors.
