The Indian sub-4 metre sedan segment, is all set to see some interesting action. The segment was started by Tata Motors' Indigo but it has now been dominated by Maruti Suzuki Dzire followed by Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent.
To wrest back the initiative, after an extended period of time and much effort, the company has finally developed the Zest that is capable of taking on its rivals.
The Zest does not have much to boast about in terms of looks but it draws attention due to the new grille that flows into the projector headlamps and the sculpted side panels.
LED daytime running lights further enhance the front fascia and the side profile is refreshing, too, and with its large 15-inch wheels the Zest wears a raised stance.
The rear section featuring wraparound LED tail-lamps and ample usage of chrome - is a departure from the Tata norm and the boot is quite snugly integrated with the vehicle. The Zest measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,706 mm in width and has a ground clearance of 175 mm.
Meanwhile Tata Motors' upcoming hatchback, Kite, has been caught on camera yet again, this time offering a view of the car's interior, International Business Times reported.
Though the test vehicle was under heavy cover, it was not difficult to make out that the car shared much by way of design inputs with Tata's Indica and upcoming Bolt hatchback. Also most importantly, the pictures revealed the interior of the Tata Kite for the first tme.
Tata Kite, which is expected to give Maruti Celerio plenty of competition is likely to be introduced only next year.
Although the company had not revealed details and pricing of the car, according to rumours the company was likely to price the new hatchback around Rs4 lakh.
Apart from the Celerio, Tata Kite would also be competing with Honda Brio and Hyundai Grand i10 in India once it hit the market.
Earlier reports had suggested that Tata's Kite hatchback would be based on Tata's XO platform and would be manufactured at the company's Sanand plant in Gujarat.
